What to Expect from Awesome Kids Week 2020!
July 20-27, 2020 From the comfort of your home
During the ongoing restrictions generated by the state's COVID-19 response, we are going to connect virtually from home. Let's visit some fresh ideas for Eating, Moving and Thinking WELL from the comfort of home.
This week will be all about picking one behavior a day that adds to our health. These choices add up over time and accumulate into a vibrant life! Each day we will provide one link to an activity, either in written or video format, that illustrates a healthy activity. Please join us as you are able or supplement with your own favorite healthful activity.
We have left the text below to let you know what you can expect from AKD 2021, when we hope we will all be celebrating in person, together! AKD isn't going away and we remain hopeful that next summer will be two years' worth of party in one!
This event zone offers games, a make-your-own recipe book station, healthy treats, and the return of Kids vs. Food! Get ready to learn how food fuels your body...and to fill it with the good stuff!
It's time to bounce, dance, balance, and climb in this event zone. Play with your friends in the bouncy houses, achieve your new personal record in the obstacle course, conquer the climbing wall, and get some really fun dance instruction! You know how you can showcase your newfound moves? At our free concert! You'll also work those fine motor skills at our play dough station, treasure hunt, and shaving cream station.
Joyful thinking is so important. Happy thoughts create a happy mind and this event zone is all about how to be creative, artistic, positive, and an outstanding citizen. It's also your opportunity to earn a super hero cape! You can be a super citizen and think super thoughts. There is a super hero inside of YOU!
Awesome Kids Day culminates with a free concert from Burien's own super awesome Molner Band! We are excited to hear them play from our stage and to watch you break out those awesome new dance moves you learned during the day! Rhythm and music are a focus of Awesome Kids Day because not only are they fun, but music builds language and math skills. Get ready to rock!
